Becky

Known to the community as art and music educator, illustrator, and artist Becky Ward-Morgan has been teaching art and music for many years.  She is passionate about using the arts to improve the lives of many people and uses art as a catalyst to help students learn other subjects.  Becky’s art is a compilation and expression of her experiences in life. Her works of art include paintings, drawings and works in glass that express memorable and joyous moments interacting with faith, nature and family. Skillful brushstrokes, vibrant colors and mixed media capture naturalistic scenes and textures of the beach, sunsets and moonlit skies from family vacations.   She hopes to encourage viewers to enjoy the beauty in nature and create special moments with family.  Becky has illustrated children’s books, educational materials and is known best for her animal and people portraits. Becky has dedicated her talents to creating art that capture unique personalities of people and pets, with special interests in animal adoption and humane treatment of animals.

A lifetime of dedication, sharing her skills and knowledge in the arts, Becky has mentored and taught art and music lessons out of her Mechanicsville based studio in addition to teaching in schools throughout Virginia.  As art instructor for the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Becky has been passionate about using the arts to help students learn academic subjects. She has traveled to schools throughout Richmond and surrounding counties using art to teach SOL based subjects.  Because of her passion, experience and knowledge of numerous media and her outstanding talent in teaching, many of her students are now professionals working in the arts.  She has a talent for teaching the very beginner to the most advanced in a wide variety of media in art.  In addition to teaching children and adults, she has developed and taught teacher workshops and presented at the Virginia Art Educators Association. Understanding how art is beneficial to those with special needs, she has used art to work with Alzheimer's and dementia patients.  She enjoys watching students learn, and become confident in their creations and believes that every person has  an artist inside waiting to express themselves-it’s never too late to explore the arts.

Becky has been the recipient of several art awards throughout Virginia, including a two time international cartoonist award.  She has been a grant recipient and developed and instructed art outreach programs.  Many of her murals can be seen in churches, schools, stores and communities throughout the Northern Virginia, DC and Richmond area.  Creating art, teaching and spending time with family are a few of her most favorite things, in addition to playing ball with her two adopted dogs.  She plans on continuing to use her God given talents to help others learn and to share her talents so they can learn about art and the rewards it can bring to their life.
